Where is my Cinderella pumps/heels??

No, I'm not waiting for a Prince Charming (but if you're out there, come and sweep me off my feet from this earth and bring me to a world where ECONOMY CRISIS is not even a word). I'm just sick that I went to almost every shoe store in Penang, and I still can't find a good one --be it in the color, style or comfortness..and most importantly, the PRICE!!!!

Serious, I went to BLay, Nose, Vincci, PrimaVera, Walk-In, ShoePoint and...and I still couldn't find the pair of pumps/heels that I like. If the color is right, there goes the ridiculous price. If the style is right, there goes the hideous color. If everything is right, 'sorry ah miss, we don't have the size that you want worr'...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!! Aiyo~~~~~ S.O.S!!!

You must be thinking why I am in desparate need (well, WANT actually..tehee~) for a new shoe. I have this dress which I bought for my cousin's wedding sometime end of this month, and I would like to have a shoe to go with it.

A one colored dress pinkish+orange'ish' and..ignore the date =p

The only heels that I have right now is 2yrs old, still can wear them but color is fading and I've changed the heels once already. And I don't think it goes well with the dress too. I'm looking for pumps or heels ( but I'm so likey pumps now), if it is soft in color I would like it to be beige, light brown or the same color as my dress. If it is a strong and dark color, then basic black will do I think, but I don't mind playing with bold dark green, maroon or even gold. I luuurve those with straps, but I think it is quite menyampah to have it tie and untie, so I'm looking for pumps that I can just slip my foot in and go. And price range will be rm40-rm50 lah...if there is cheaper will be great.

And oh, one more thing, if I buy new pumps, I must make sure that I can wear it again to different occasion with different outfit..then it will be worth the money. Hmm..with all the criterias, am I asking to much?? No right??...right? I went online to check out what other pumps they have out there, and I did find some really nice+chic ones, can actually suit my dress too...price range is not bad too you know, around 14-15...except that it is in USD.. (-_-)

Madden Girl Women's Pauliie Pump (this would be my pick!)

Merona Elaina T-Strap Pumps

Penthse slide heels (2nded by this!)

Xhilaration Skyler Patent Mary Jane Pump

Aren't they just lovely to see..dream..drool...but out of reach (for now)?? Sigh. Since today is a Public Holiday, I'm gonna do another round in Qbay..masuk kedai yang inda pernah masuk. I guess I can't be too choosey lah. OR you nice people out there get me one as Christmas present?? Hehehehehehehhee =)))

The stupid haircut

It has always been easy for me to get a haircut that I want and satisfying back in Labuan, and that's because there was no language problem. I can just tell the Chinese aunty like this:" Belakang kasih pendek, kasih nampak tebal, tepi kasih ikut length mcm belakang juga" - that and with a bit of hand gestures. And then after going there for a few times with the same style, the next time I come I'll just say " Potong yang macam duuulu".
All is good until I came to Penang. First, it's quite hard for me to explain the haircut that I want because I refuse to speak Chinese and they only speak in Chinese, Hokkien to be exact, and when I speak English its quite hard for them to digest. Its like when I say " make the back look thicker" their brains process those words into some alien language "make$#the@#^back%!look*&^)thicker". I guess they are just not used to having a girl customer who has Chinese looks but couldn't speak Chinese. And then I found ViVa Saloon in which the hairdresser can speak English, ok lah...but most of the time I don't get the look that I want. I think it is because he is more into stylish haircut, and I'm more into simple, neat and easy to manage hairstyle that I can wear daily without giving so much fuss.
My hair is was quite long after a hair cut in April this year, and I just couldn't tahan having long hair cos very menyampah and I malas want to manage.

So I went to ViVa to get a short-a bit bob at the back-below ears length haircut. He ask me if I want my to hair to able to be tied up after after the cut, I told him a big bold NO. Punya lah alang-alang the haircut...tia puas hati!!!!!!!!! It was still long, masih boleh ikat mind youuuu, and then it was not short enough at the sides that when I tuck my hair behind my ears, it forms an annoying curve shape!!!! yux!!! Below pic is the haircut, couldn't really see lah but if you look closely its still a bit messy, not NEAT as I want it to be.
Can see?
See..I still can tie my hair.

I memang tia puas hati especially the stupid curves really annoys me eh!!! SO I went to get another hair cut again two weeks later, which was yesterday. The hairdresser speaks English and he can understand me just fine, thank goodness. So i just told him the same thing. He nodded and started working his miracle on my ididot hair..and I can slowly see how my hair unfolds to the shape, length and style that I want. And it took only half hour.
Tadaa~~ this is so much better!

I know lah maybe this is not a style that suits me or my bentuk muka, but who cares lah cos this is the cut that I want, less fuss (especially when I wake up during weekdays for work) and manageble. Hehehe~!~!~!~ =)

A visit to Bidor~

This is a sharing that I posted up in my Catholic Society yahoo groups. And I've copied and pasted it here. Read on..

A three days exposure to Orang Asli settlement in Kg. Chang Lama, Bidor couldn't be anymore enriching experience, although I wish we could have stayed a few days more to really sit, talk, listen and mingle more with the Orang Asli, to see and understand in depth of their long struggle of letting people know their EXISTENCE and wake MALAYSIANS of their IGNORANCE.

Words can't fully express how I feel about my stay in Kg.Chang Lama- there's compassion, anger, inspired, and awe. As most of you have already known, the main struggle by the Orang Asli community is the right to their land. By putting myself in their shoes, I feel their sadness, their depression, and most of all, their hope for a better life for their community. If you were there, and listen to their woes and how they were not recognize and entitled to their rights by the Higher Power of mankind, you can feel the anger building up in you on how such cruelty, 'tindakan tak berhati perut' be done upon them...I felt the anger. I was also inspired by their fighting spirit standing firmly on their feet to not be oppressed by our ignorant Government. I was too, awed by their action - to train the younger generation, to equip them with SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE to ensure the continuous of their battle for their land and their rights as an to any MALAYSIANS here in our beautiful land.

A picture paints a thousand words they say, and I'm already out of words to fully describe my 3 days experience in Bidor. Here are among the pictures I've taken, I hope these pictures can be 'captured' into your memory and stays there to remind you the struggles of our fellow brothers and sisters, while we are living comfortably within our comfort zone.

The lady in Pink top is Kak Tijah, our main contact person with the Orang Asli community.

Rumah Adat. This is where we stayed.

Walking around in Kg. Chang Lama.

A typical Orang Asli home.

A waterfall nearby the kampung. An elder makcik from the kampung said it takes her 20 minutes walk to get here from her house. She said ‘Kamu orang muda 10 minit sajalah…’ And we orang muda took 30 minutes to get there…tsk tsk tsk.

This is taken during sharing on our first night stay. They are youths from various kampung (they left their homes) came here in Chang Lama for 6 months training called, Training of Trainers (TOT). We want to get people to go for prayer meetings ONCE a WEEK for 2 HOURS pun susah…we have a lot to learn from them.

Kak Tijah sharing her story. She has all my respect for her fight even when she is ill, doing all she can to ensure her people is not being ‘step over’ by our selfish Government.

A visit to another Orang Asli settlement in Kg. Gesau,Ulu Slim. We were touched as they made us crown made of coconut leaves and decorated with colorful flowers. Its like welcoming kings and queens. They are a very giving and selfless community.

A makcik is teaching us how to make the crown from coconut leaves. My fingers got tangled with each other a few times before I can complete one. There’s just so much of lipatan! Behind me is aktiviti membakar ubi. Its so good that you can even eat it on its own – like Gardenia. I think this is basically what they do whenever there are visitors or kenduri or festive.

Helena and Kaitlin (MJCC) learning a few Semai words from the young ladies. They were giggling away I guess its because Kaitlin and Helena couldn’t pronounce the words correctly.

The younger generation – where the hope for a better future lies in them.

The man on the most left, he is Tok Batin of Kg. Gesau – similar to penghulu kampung. A man who has fought together with our fallen soldiers during war and also before Merdeka. He used his own retirement savings (EPF) to help setup hectares of land for growing kelapa sawit for the community as a source of income.

Kg. Pos Bersih (1)

Kg. Pos Bersih (2)

The pictures above, Kg. Pos Bersih (1) & (2). What you see is a land being robbed. A company has illegally entered Kg Pos Bersih and did their ‘perlombongan pasir’ activity without any notification to or permission from the villagers. And this land has a geran tanah! How can you do that? Don’t take something that doesn’t belong to you!

The final night of our stay. We had a reflection session with Fr. Jojo, everyone shared their thoughts and opinions, and wished that there’s more that we can do to help the Orang Asli community.

Hell at work and the week before it began

Wow, ever since I swap task with a colleague 3 weeks ago, my work load has doubled, and in some days tripled. The workload that I have right now, I can safely say that it is a workload for 3 person, and I'm handling it all, plus a temp staff who is in for about 3 months. But during the Deepavali week, she took the whole week off and I was all alone doing EVERYTHING!! Gosh, I've been going home late, like 9.30pm onwards for the last 3 weeks, and during the Deepavali week, it was like 10pm onwards..towards the end of the week, I was sleep deprived (cos I wake up early the next morning) and feeling really really tired. My body was aching everywhere. Last Friday at around 4pm, I was literally holding my head up with one hand, and the other hand resting on a mouse clicking on my un-read emails....dragging them all to my 'To Action' folders. HUH!! I was just can't wait for weekend...I need the rest, I need the outing, and most of all...I need the SLEEP. And while I'm writting this, its already evening on a Sunday..time flies so fast! Huaaaaa~~~
Anyway, before that busy and hectic life began, I sempat go enjoy enjoy first. During the Raya week, I followed Greg to Klang. I was hoping he'll go and visit some friends and I can tag along and makan rendang, kuih and all the delicious stuff, but too bad he didn't. He was spending his time meeting up old friends and play poker..bugger (nothing worng, just that my harapan tinggi untuk makan kecundang..hehe). But we did go for a movie at AEON Bkt Tinggi, we watched MAMMA MIA! Story line so-so, but I LUURRVVEE the song-singing-dancing! Minus Pierce Brosnan singing lah..rosak lah the whole song. Luckily he has that I'm-old-but-still-HHOOOTT look, so that saved him from my further blaaaah comments =) After the movie, we went to isi our perut in a cafe called Penang Nonya something something..sorry yer, my brain is at its worse when it comes to re-calling name of places, unless I've been there more than once.

Penang Nyonya x.x. (the place, not the two creatures)

Yes I know...come all the way to Klang from Penang, and eat Penang food. Haha. Nway, I ordered Nasi Briyani something something (brain is not working here). It was not bad, quite tasty. But don't take my word, I'm not a good eater and I really dunno how to comment on food. All I know to do is to nggaaaaaaaaammmmm-kunyah-telan! Here's how it looked like:

Looks neat and nice, tasty?

Besides Aeon, we went to Republic at Sunway to meet up with Greg's cousin...jejak kasih punya cerita lah, they meet up and chit chat and drink...while I listen and drink....ORANGE JUICE =p hahaha....

This is what they were drinking, my O.J. not in pic, potong stim lah..

On our way back to Penang (we drove to Klang), we heard on the radio saying that it's bottleneck from tol towards the Penang bridge, and so we menyimpang sikit to Juru Autocity to have dinner and take our sweet time until the jam clears up a bit. It's our first time in Autocity and it is quite a nice place to hang out. We had our dinner in Japanese Ramen & Rice restaurant, called Takehana. (Surprise surprise! Cynthia remembers the name of this place!!)

Cos I took the pic mah....

And I ordered this Japanese dish called...erm, by now you should now that I'm suck at remembering the name of things. It is tasty, although the taste is a bit foreign to me as I have never had Japanese dishes before, sushi pun satu kali saja...itu pun terpaksa.

The dish...

After dinner, with heavier bum we got back to our car and continued our journey...and the jam didn't cleared up a bit..and it was close to 11pm..sigh. But its okay, our tummies were smiling and we just had to bersabar..hati hati di jalan raya =)

Gone are the days...

Gone are the days..
..where useless worries doesn't exists

..when I needed money, I just say " Pa, can you give me $? I want to buy..."

..7am reach sikul, 1pm go home, 2pm noon nap, 4pm PLAAYYYYYYY sampai comot, 7.30pm malas mandi pun tida apa, watch Power Rangers until my sweat went dry, 9pm baru mau pi mandi, 9.30pm sambung tingu tv (McGyver, Dunhill Double shows, Jangan Ketawa, drama silat Melayu, America's Funniest Home Video, Kisah Benar..etc), 11pm SLEEEEEPPPPPPPPPP!!!!! (schoolwork? hehehe)

..where makan keropok 30sen is enough to make me happy, or 1osen = 2 biji gula gula

..where all friends are my 'best friend'.."si A best friend sia tu"...."si B pun best friend sia juga tu"..."ei, best friend sia tu, jan ko cakap buruk pasal dia ah...sia kestau dia nanti"

..when FASHION doesn't seem to matter!!!!!!! Asal ada t-shirt yang ada kartun Ninja turtle/Sailormoon/Mickey Mouse, and seluar jeans pendek, plus slipar jipun...kay, boleh pigi Milimewah sudah!

..Oh ya, when pigi Milimewah alone can make me happy...atau kedai runcit sana simpang jalan..beli kotak mainan TORA. hahahaha.." TORA datang lagi!"

..panjat pokok mangga orang and steal the buah (in labuan, behind my house. partner in crime? Lovely, my cousin)

..when once me n cousins jolok buah mangga yang belum masak, and when my late granpa nampak, he terus kejar us with his walking stick!!!!!!! Dashyat... =p (this was in KK)

..when angkol-angkol yang profession businessman only have ATUR. siap dengan bateri saiz sebesar laptop 12", dengan jumlah berat melebihi 3kg, in the jungle also can get reception wan. Now, primary 3 kids have phones with 3G+bluetooth+radio+camera+Godknowswhat!

..when I, used to be a carefree kid..oh how I took things, time and nature for granted! Sigh~~

Freedom Film Fest 08'

FFF 08' Penang
26th - 28th Sept

Wawasan Open University

I was actually not really looking forward to be volunteering for the Penang FFF that was held in Penang recently. Entah, mainly because I'm malas kot...this is my well known sickness =p But as the days drew closer on the events, I recalled the FFF I attended back in 2 years ago. I remembered feeling inspired after watching a few screenings. And also sedih plus geram at the same time. Inspired by the movie makers for berani bersuara for our rights, tru the making of movies...showing the real 'issue' that is happening in Malaysia, and 'issues' that affecting us Malaysians. Sedih and geram at how we ditipu, dianggap bodoh, ditindas, diambil kesempatan, not getting equal rights...especially to those under privillage. MALAYSIA BOLEH!! Piiiiraaaahh..!! Anyway, I finally decided to go help and volunteer because...well, I terfikir if I want to help to make a difference in our Bolehland, the least I can do is to be part of this and give my support. And of course, I was looking forward for the screenings..in which were free. Kalau pun mau dibayar, aku sanggup eh... So without 'cakap'ing banyak, I have uploaded some pictures taken during the film fest. Some I copy from KOMAS website..hehe. Oh ya, to know more about FFF or KOMAS..its one click away!

Jelutong MP, DAP Jeff Ooi was there

Dee MeLoDy

Of course, Dee Melody is not my real name. But there is a reason why I use this name for my blog profile.
And the reason is because it IS my name...well, at least to my Uncle Bonnie, it is lah. Not my MyKad =)
Back in zaman budak hingusan, I used to be very fond of my then single Uncle Bonnie. Oh by the way, he is my dad's younger bro. And now he is married with a lovely wife and have a cute and hyperactive daughter.
I grew up in Labuan, and whenever it is a school holiday break, my parents will usually send me and my younger sister, Debbie back to KK first, they will come later. Cos di Labuan teda kawan, kazen2 semuaaaaa di KK..so kena hantar balik lah.
Aaanyway, I remember once at my grandma's hse, I was waiting for him to come home from work. When I saw his car approaching, I quickly got up and waited for him at the car porch. And just as he opens his car door, " Uncle!!!! Bawa sia pi makan KFC!!!" Hahahaha...budak hingusan betul. Kan zaman dulu2 budak become extra gembira if you bring them to KFC.. =p

I couldn't exactly remember when he started calling me Dee MeLody, and totally have NO idea why he calls me that. But I know I like it cos I think its cool he can come up with that name and fits with my first name =) Whenever he sees me he'll go 'Cynthia Dee Melody!', plus him pinching my nose, giving it a twist or the least is he ruffles my hair. And believe me, he still calls me by that name today, but minus all the playful act lah =) Hehheeee..
I guess if one day I become a celebrity I'll use that name?? Hehehe...signature anyone? hahaha...palui, perasan betul...

Oh, since I'm on this topic of my-name-but-not-exactly-my-name; here's a list of names family, relatives and friends call me
1. Cyn
2. Cyntut
3. Cyntiuk
4. Dee Melody
5. B****tut ----> too embarrasing to tell, haha! Can anyone guess? You guess it right i belanja you KFC =p Nama timangan bah ni
6. Amoi
7. Sumandak talawa....ececece, minta puji ja bah ni! no one calls me this..haha, =p

Let truth and justice prevail!

A mass was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit tonight, 15th Sept 2008 at 8pm; to pray very specially that truth and justice will prevail in this land.
All brothers and sisters in Christ came together and pray; pray for those who are currently detained under this inhumane law, ISA and for their loved ones.

After the mass, we lit candles and had a short vigil, dedicated for those who were detained. With hearts full of hope for a new kingdom, God's righteous kingdom; and for truth & justice prevail in this land, our land...we should take back what is ours, Malaysia is ours...the people.

Here's a short video of the congregation singing Suara Rakyat; in the tune of...I forgot the name of the song. =p

A prayer for our nation

Let us proclaim the name of the Lord;
And ascribe greatness to our God!
Lord your work is perfect.
And all your ways are just.
Let your voice be heard today by all the nations!

O God, Judge of the nations,
Put fear into our hearts
So that we may know that we are only human.

Father, the whole of creation groans and labours
to be delivered from the bondage of corruption,
into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Lord Jesus, send forth Your Spirit of Truth and let this spirit
prove to 'the powers that be' how wrong they are about sin,
righteousness and judgement.

O Lord, declare the power of your works to
Your peoples and let us be filled with the
knowledge of Your glory as the waters covers the sea.

Gather us O lord in Your name and may all
worship the One True God. Amen.

*A prayer composed from various Scripture verses of the Bible*

T.G.I.F !

T.G.I.F!!!!!!! And yes it is =D~!~!
It's an off-day and boy I tidur habis-habisan! Haha! Woke up around11am and then continued watching Naruto, so good to laze around.
After watching 2 episodes of Naruto, I got up and looked outside my room window, it was a pretty sight after couple of weeks of haziness and heatiness..the sky is clear+ soft breeze and promises to stay that way...or so I thought.
The wind started to get more intense and chilly, and making hollow noises as it passes tru the openings in my house (doors and windows kay, my hse is not berlubang2))..and my room window rattled a bit.

I went out to my balcony to check the weather out..and this is how the view is like from my balcony.See that?? The dark clouds were quite far from my area, if my jangkaan is correct, it was hovering above Queensbay area. You can't see it in this picture, but the dark clouds were moving really fast. A bit scary lah. The dark clouds looked like some humongous dark opening swallowing that part of Penang right? Here's another shot taken to my right:Haiyaaaahhh...the opening to heaven is now closed! Look at the thickness of the clouds! So much for T.G.I.F...I'm anticipating for heavy downpour, judging by the suckish weather. Bad weather really have the power to change ones mood. Instantly my 'MALAS' button is triggered. Malas do laundry, malas want to go get lunch..malas everything! Just as my 'MALAS' button triggered, my 'LAPAR' button came on pula....dah lah the weather like this...how to get food ah?? Hehe..the answer is in 1300-13-1300 -----> McDelivery!!!!!!!! =p Bijak bijak..let the delivery boy get wet instead of myself...McDelivery is really a people centered service =p Yaahaha~~

After waiting about half hour, the delivery boy came with my order, and it didn't rain, the wind was still strong tho..lucky him! And so I happily treated myself with Ayam Goreng McD while watching naruto. I was so engrossed in my lunch and Naruto (its the part where Sasuke finally revealed himself!) that i realize it didn't rain, and that no more strong wind blowing. So again, i looked out my room window, and guess what I saw?
No more dark clouds!!! Yeah~!~! =)

*iklan*iklan*---if food poisoning is a person, its a damn thing for sure that I'll kick the shit out of him, make his internal body system go haywire that he has to puke from his ass and shit from his mouth!!!! Hmmmphh! :-[ *end of iklan*

Spaghetti SunDay

I've been wanting to learn to cook spaghetti for quite sometime now, and today I have the time and the mood is right...let's start cookin'!! =) I don't really have the idea of what are the ingredients to prepare spaghetti...all I have on my mind is spaghetti, cheese, tomato paste, cheese, cheese, meat, cheese....that's all. So i went online (heeeee...) and check out the main ingredients needed. Lahh...byknya needed! Besides what I mentioned, you need Italian seasoning....garlic...big onion...chicken broth...beef...and i forgot the rest. I didn't know that!!! I didn't get all tho, just the main thingie - spaghetti (I almost forgot to grab this one =p), chicken fillet (don't ask why i didn't get beef), sausage (saja =p), tomato paste, Italian seasoning (must get this!!), big onion, and Parmesan cheese (I MUST HAVE THIS!!!). I got all these in small portion cos it's only me and Greg eating..but the cost came up to rm31++..tsk! The cheese and seasoning lah yang mahal.... ohya! I bought campbell mushroom soup too! Yum! to make the dish a complete set konon..hehe! So all ingredients in hand, keeping my fingers crossed, hoping my spaghetti will turn out to be edible =p I urus the spaghetti, and Greg prepares the tomato puree. Supposedly I want to do this all alone..tapi entah this Greg tetiba want to join helping me cook pula...guess he takut i mess up kot.. Anyway, it amazes me how a few sprinkle of Italian seasoning brings out the 'umph' taste of the tomato paste. After about 40min, all is done...tummies drumming away, and I can't wait to taste our first home cooked spaghetti! Here's how it looked like...

Of course lah it doesn't look like the one served at Secret Recipe...but I have to admit Greg and I did a pretty good job. It DOES taste like how it is supposed to =) I bet ours taste better than the one prepared in Kan Cheong Kitchen =p.Plus the mushroom soup...our meal was very yummy! And so we makan and makan until we're stuffed!!!! Haaaaa~~~
